Yu-Ning Chen is a PhD candidate in the joint Japanese and Comparative Literature program.
Yu-Ning holds a B.A. in Chinese literature and an M.A. in Taiwanese literature from National Taiwan University. From 2017-2018, she studied advanced Japanese at the Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies as a Nippon Foundation Fellow, and she subsequently conducted dissertation research in Japan with funding provided through a Toshiba Fellowship. Her dissertation centers on the role of fashion in Japanese women’s literature from the 1920s to the 1960s. She will be spending the 2021-2022 academic year as a Japan Foundation Fellow, conducting further research on her dissertation at International Research Center for Japanese Studies (Nichibunken).
