Min Wang is a PhD candidate in the joint Chinese and Comparative Literature program.
Min Wang has a bachelor’s degree in Chinese Literature from Peking University, Beijing. She received her master’s degree in Chinese from Washington University. Min has also acquired the graduate certificate in Film and Media Studies. Her current work focuses on the aesthetic of modern Chinese detective fictions in the early 20th century. The project intends to examine how these popular literature works, within the contexts of vibrant transnational cultural interactions, the new fashion of film, and colonialism, make reflections of and on the non-elite urban readers’ experiences of modernity and modernization.
