Adam Manfredi holds a BA degree from the University of California Berkeley and an MFA in creative writing from San Francisco State University.

He was a Japanese government scholar at the University of Tokyo and was awarded a Fulbright to conduct research at Keio University in Japan. His dissertation focuses on the literature of the 1968 student protests in Japan. He has a second degree black belt in judo and in his free time writes short stories and rock climbs.
